On July 6, "The 2024 International Forum on Stem Cells Clinical Research and Transformation Application" was successfully held in Shenyang.
The Forum was hosted by He University, co-organized by He Eye Specialist Hospital and Shenyang Yuanchu Technology Co., Ltd. It aimed to promote the advancement of stem cells clinical research and translational applications in China, foster in-depth exchanges and cooperation among stem cells researchers, and collectively explore crucial scientific issues in the field of stem cells research. Over 140 experts and scholars from the domestic stem cells field participated in the forum.

In recent years, China has been accelerating the advancement of applied research in the field of stem cells. The national "14th Five-Year Plan for Bioeconomic Development" has laid out new techniques for stem cells therapy, and promoted technological innovation, transformation of technological achievements and industrial development. This Forum focused on the cutting-edge research of stem cells theory and application, with special attention to stem cells preclinical research and clinical application transformation, as well as new approaches in stem cells research and therapy.
Dr. Wei He, the Forum chairman and founder of He University, delivered a speech stating that stem cells are hailed as the "seeds of life", possess unique capabilities for self-renewal and differentiation, offering potential treatments for numerous intractable diseases. He expressed his hope that the forum would serve as a bridge and bond, connecting global resources across "medicine, education, industry, academia, research, and investment" to foster the mutual sharing of stem cells translational achievements, thereby enabling more scientific and technological advancements to benefit the public.

At the Forum, experts and scholars from the domestic stem cells field engaged in in-depth discussions on the latest progress, challenges, and opportunities in the stem cells clinical research and translational applications. They shared their research findings and clinical experience in the stem cells, collectively exploring the mysteries of stem cell medicine, contributing wisdom and strength to the cause of human health.
As one of the pioneering research institutions in the field of ophthalmic stem cells in China, He University was approved to establish the Liaoning Provincial Key Laboratory of Ophthalmic Stem Cell and Tissue Engineering in 2008. He University also setup a research center for the clinical application of ophthalmic stem cells and obtained a license for the clinical application of stem cells in ophthalmology. Over the years, it has collaborated with prestigious institutions such as Tongji University and Fudan University on multiple national major scientific projects. These initiatives have focused on in-depth research areas including retinal stem cells, the relationship between retinal stem cells and tumors, and genetic eye disease.
Dr. Wei He stated that He University will take this Forum as an opportunity to join hands with experts and scholars in the domestic stem cells field, to jointly advance the development of stem cells clinical research and translational applications in China. Together, they will buildup platforms for communication and cooperation, and collectively envision a promising future for precision medicine.
