Introduction to the School of Public Health

    Establishing an international School of Public Health was a goal set by He University from the beginning. In order to implement the strategy of “Healthy China” and contribute to providing “comprehensive and full-cycle health services” to the public, enhancing the quality of public health services and the public health levels, the School of Public Health of He University focuses on how to cultivate practical talents for the future interdisciplinary field of public health. It aims to build a talent reserve pool for the country’s future public health professionals, meeting the society’s demand for health expertise.

    In terms of faculty allocation and educational research, the School actively recruits high-level talents, inviting renowned returning scholars and international industry experts, and experts from enterprises and institutions to serve as distinguished or adjunct professors. This has led to the formation of a “cross-disciplinary, full-time and part-time combined” faculty team. Currently, there are 26 full-time faculty members and 11 distinguished and external lectures. In addition, the School undertakes two scientific research projects of the Liaoning Provincial Natural Science Foundation, and over 20 educational reform projects at the national, provincial, municipal and university levels. The School has one provincial-level boutique course and five university-level boutique courses. Faculty members have published dozens of academic and teaching research papers.

    In terms of student development and skills enhancement, the School of Public Health integrates teaching and research capabilities, focusing on career demands and industry trends. With an emphasis on the cultivation of students’ post abilities, it fosters comprehensive development of students, placing greater emphasis on practical training and skill enhancement. For the major of Health Service Management, the curriculum includes a wide range of theoretical courses covering Health Management, Health Economics, etc. This is complemented by internships and practical training in hospitals and community health service centers, as well as the analysis of successful cases from both domestic and international sources, strengthened students' hands-on skills and innovative thinking. Moreover, the School encourages interdisciplinary learning and international exchanges to broaden students’ horizons. The major of Preschool Education imparts fundamental knowledge such as Child Development Psychology and Educational Principles, while enhancing students’ teaching practice abilities and personalized educational concepts through various forms, including simulated classrooms, artistic skill training,and on-site internships in kindergartens. The major emphasizes home-school cooperation and mental health education for children, aiming to cultivate high-quality professionals who excel in both theoretical understanding and practical application.

    In terms of practical teaching, the School of Publish Health has currently established cooperative agreements with four Disease Control and Prevention Centers , eight high-end kindergartens, and over ten well-known health management companies to serve as practical training bases. By leveraging the advantageous resources, the School conducts in-depth internships and graduation practices to strengthen students' practical skills. Additionally, the School has been approved for two projects of the Ministry of Education Higher Education Department of to connect supply and demand with employment and education, enabling students to engage in paid internships and on-the-job internship, and employment upon graduation.

    By 2035, the School aims to cultivate high-quality, next generation public health professionals for the nation, including health managers with public health knowledge, preschool educators, psychological counselors, nutritionists, health policy and management personnel, as well as information technology talents, to help solve the problem of limited medical resources and talent shortages in various aspects and stages, ultimately enhancing the public health nationwide. At the same time, the School will also establish robust exchanges and cooperation with domestic and international public health institutions. By introduce global expertise into China and integrating it within He University, the School seeks to contribute to the advancement of China's public health cause.

 

Major of Health Services and Management

Duration: 4 years

Degree Awarded: Bachelor of Management

 

Educational Objectives:

To train application-oriented management talents who can use solid knowledge of health service management and are capable of screening, evaluating and intervening in health issues. Graduates can engage in health monitoring and screening, health assessment, health intervention, health communication and education, health risk management and other work in medical and health institutions, community health service institutions, health examination centers, elderly care industry institutions, health management companies and other units.

 

Career Direction:

With the country's strong attention and policy support to the big health industry, graduates of the health service and management major will have unprecedented employment opportunities. After graduation, students will mainly work in medical institutions, disease prevention and control institutions, community health service institutions, health management companies, health insurance companies, health examination centers, nutrition consulting companies, wellness institutions, and nursing homes, etc., Their work will engage in health screening and testing, health analysis and evaluation, health education and promotion, health guidance and intervention, etc.

Major of Preschool Education

Duration: 4 years

Degree Awarded: Bachelor of Education

 

Educational Objectives:

This major trains application-oriented talents who have the basic theories and skills in the field of early childhood development and education. Graduates will be capable of integrating education, nurturing and health care to provide comprehensive support for the physical and mental health development of preschool children. Graduates will be engaged in the care and education of children aged 0-6, education management and early childhood education guidance in preschool education institutions and social public institutions.

 

Career Direction:

After graduation, students can work in kindergartens, childcare institutions, child health management centers, etc. to engage in child health management, psychological counseling, education, child care, management and organization of institution; They may also work in community service departments, family education guidance centers and psychological counseling centers to engage in family education guidance, child psychological counseling, etc.; Additionally, they can work in sensory integration training centers and children's physical fitness institutions to engage in sensory integration training, physical fitness training guidance, etc.
