Introduction to the School of Pharmacy

As a first-class undergraduate program in Liaoning Province and one of the pioneering modern industrial schools in the region, the School of Pharmacy of He University currently offers two undergraduate majors approved by the Ministry of Education: Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Management, with over 800 students enrolled.

Aligning the development strategy of “Healthy China”, the School innovates its educational philosophy, integrates resources, gathers talents. By serving innovative pharmaceutical industry and creating an integrated platform for education, research, and industry in the field of life and health sciences, the School aims to cultivate high-quality, innovative and application-oriented talents to meet the needs of the national pharmaceutical industry. It employs returning doctors and industry experts as professional and subject leaders and adopts the "2+1+1" talent training model. By strengthening the construction of practice bases and deepening the integration of industry and education, the School enhances students' professional practical skills, laying a solid foundation for their internship and future employment.

In recent years, the School has achieved multiple honors in national, provincial and municipal innovation and entrepreneurship competitions, as well as experimental skills contests. In recognition of its outstanding performance, the School was awarded the title of "Advanced Collective" by the Educational Department of Liaoning Province in 2023.

In constructing an integrated education, industry and research platform, the School of Pharmacy has established a comprehensive preclinical research and development technology chain for new drug creation, and formed a systematic teaching and research framework for advanced pharmacy.

In the area of scientific research results transformation and external services, the School was successfully approved as the Shenyang Key Laboratory of Ophthalmic New Drug Research and Development in December 2022. By leveraging modern technologies and methodologies from disciplines such as Modern Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology, Pharmacology, and Biostatistics, the laboratory conducts research on ophthalmic new drugs screening, including small molecule compounds, natural products, biologics, traditional Chinese medicine, and monomers, using cellular and experimental animal models for pharmacodynamics evaluation and studies on the mechanism of drug action. Simultaneously, an external service platform has been established to carry out outsourcing services for domestic and international ophthalmic drug R&D and new drug preclinical pharmacodynamics tests for manufacturers. There are more than 30 internship bases upon graduation for the students of the School of Pharmacy, including provincial drug supervision and administration departments, state-owned enterprises and institutions, Fortune Global 200 companies, new drug research service institutions, and various medical institutions. Students benefit from paid internships and guaranteed employment recommendations, with a high employment rate, creating a favorable condition for "employment upon graduation".

In terms of international exchanges and cooperation, the School of Pharmacy has established partnership in education and research with more than 20 universities and research institutes, including the University of Tokyo in Japan, Kyushu University in Japan, Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica of Chinese Academy of Science, China Medical University, Shenyang Pharmaceutical University, the Liaoning Provincial Institute of Drug Inspection and Testing, Shanghai WuXi AppTec New Drug Development Co., Ltd., Pharmaron Beijing Co., Ltd., provincial drug regulatory authorities, and new drug research institutions.
